Spirit Hawk
"Spirit Hawk" is my most complex piece so far. Getting the details to look as realistic as possible was challenging!

I designed the hawks and color-planned the birds and the sky. This one is very special to me, as I believe the hawk is my "spirit animal".
My rug was featured in the Rug Hooking Magazine in the January/February 2021 issue!
This piece won a Blue Ribbon at the Big E fair in 2023.
Spirit Hawks: Blue Ribbon
Critique: This is a smart, thoughtful composition that combines a beautiful hit or miss background and three beautiful hawks. I love the color-changing yellow in the eyes and the use of patterned and plaid wool scattered throughout the bodies and wings. The features are sharp, the shading and color change is graphic and well done. The blues/orangey rusts as a palette is smart. I love that this composition is very simple, but there is so much interest in the colors and the crisp expressions of the birds. Beautiful!
