Sunflower Stool

IMG_1083.JPG

This stool was made for my friend, Betty Chin.  It took me quite a while to figure out the right dimensions to compensate for the tops of the legs.  I was ready to give up, when another friend, Kate Lowing, challenged me to be brave and finish it!

Completed in 2025.

This stool won a first place ribbon in the Dutchess County Fair in 2025, a Blue Ribbon at the Harwinton Fair in Connecticut and a Blue Ribbon at the Big E fair in Massachusetts.

Remarks From the Judge:

What a stunning footstool! My hat's off to you because these are technically so tricky and you've done a stunning job!  I love this subject for this time of year and the cheerful autumn colors.  The textured wool in the center is perfect and the way you carried the dark browns out on to the petals really makes your eye travel around the whole piece.  Your use of many yellows, oranges and ochres makes this very exciting.
