Autumn in New Hampshire

IMG_1276_edited.jpg

This rug took almost a year to complete.  I gave it as a gift to my mother in May 2022.

I received First Prize and Best Hooked Rug at the Dutchess County Fair 2022!

This rug took a blue ribbon and a special yellow rosette at the Big E Fair in Massachusetts in 2023.

The yellow rosette was for the "Best Use of Color",

Autumn Birches:  Blue Ribbon and a Donor Award (yellow rosette) from Cox Enterprises for Best use of Color

Critique:  What an epic piece!  It is a graphic masterpiece.  I love the bold shading of the trees and the strong vertical thrust of this design.  The colorful falling leaves create a celebratory feeling and create a lot of energy and interest.  The patchwork of color on the ground is enchanting. I love that you did not use the color red- -that would have been poison in a piece as whimsical and moody as this.  That robin’s egg blue sky blending with the grays and golden leaves is heaven!
